| 1981 | JR School was founded by Dr. Rajcoomar Jhurry and started its activities in a small garage, giving courses only in design and building drawing |
| Late 1980s' | The School provided training for corporate bodies such as General Construction Co Ltd with the introduction of the "General Course in Construction". Dr Rajcoomar Jhurry was the only employee doing all the tasks and processes for training Since then, JR School has expanded its portfolio of courses from Construction and Built Environment to Management, Tourism and Hospitality, IT, Beauty Care, Sports and Education. |
| 1990s | Very quickly, JR School which was originally spaced in a garage was becoming too small for the growing numbers of students joining this institution over the years; a building was thus constructed and courses were classified under the different academies- See Section Academies |
| 1998 | In its quest to adopt international best management practices, JR School became the first educational institution in Mauritius to be certified ISO 9001:2000 by SGS. Now it has upgraded to the ISO 9001: 2008 Version. |
| 2000 | JR School has been consistently thriving in the provision of quality education and training and has become a reference in high standard training geared towards World Class Education and Training. With the rapid evolution in the world of training & development, Dr Rajcoomar Jhurry, in a spirit of innovation and creativity, introduced new courses such as Information Technology, Management, Agriculture, Design and Decoration, etc A portion of land was purchased on the opposite of the JR School and converted into classes to sustain the development of all the Academies and also houses an Amphitheatre for multi-purpose session. |
| 2005 | JR School has always believed in supplementing its academic curricular with sports, leisure & entertainment activities. It invested a lot in supporting sports initiatives such as football and volleyball. It students thrive participating in national competitions and has won lots of trophies. Last year they have won the Inter- University Football Championship. |
| 2009 | JR School goes World Class and embarked on its construction project of 'Athena International Centre For Excellence' (AICE), a modern architectural structure for world class Tertiary Education with residential Campus and an International Multifunction Conference Centre for the organization of events and conferences, which is soon to open. | December 2009 | JR School has not only invest in education but also in personal 2009 development of each and every trainees by organising -'Miss JR School' , 'Mr. JR School' and 'Face of the Year' are activities which have successfully been introduced last to encourage students value and enhance their personality, growth and development. Members of Jury were composed of professionals from different sectors of the economy. On its journey towards continual improvement, JR School fully sponsored eight (8) of its management staff to the tune of Rs 600,000 to learn best practices at the Institute of Technical Education Singapore (ITES) from 14 to 17 December 2009.
